Here I am back in NYC running errands catching up on all that I haven't done while away in Colombia. So happy to be back in the city, feels great to be back in the mix and working! Here I am wearing the new Bora Ostrich Satchel from my Fall 2011 Collection. The entire fall collection was inspired by the indigenous tribes of Colombia. The exotic skins, the natural tone color palettes, and the knotted details that symbolize strength that cannot be undone or untied. The knot is one of the 8 symbols of Buddhism representing the union of two opposing forces; a closed cycle in the universe leading to ultimate harmony. This knot represents a connection, a link with our fates, binding us to our karmic destiny. While I was in Colombia working on this collection, I had the opportunity to sit back and reflect on all the great things that I have been blessed with. My journey, my family, my vision, my passion and my dedication has created intangible links with outside forces in this world that I am sometimes unaware of. Working with the artisan workers in the villages of Colombia, spending time with my family and really getting in touch with all the great energy and passion of the country from which my parents originated from are an example of the intangible links that exist in my life that bring me ultimate happiness. The knots are a subtle reminder in the collection that reflects the strength, culture and wisdom of the Colombian Artisan workers who construct each VSC handbag with passion, wisdom and love.
